The Syllabus

The syllabus contains all of the assignment dates, the method of evaluation and the schedule of readings as they are set out at the beginning of term.

Lecture Notes and Overheads

Brian Campbell has produced some overheads that are used in class for part I of the course. Most browsers (either Netscape or Internet Explorer) should work with the web page format that I have used. The links are listed below. For Erin Steuter's Notes and overheads are provided here. The overheads were used last term but they are being revised as we go along.

• Overheads Collection 9 has some slides on the Guppy & Arai article as well as on the Campbell & Fleming article. The topic is the sociology of education and the use of quantitative methods. There are also some slides from the class survey.
• Overheads Collection 10 has some tables on student attitudes to university life. There are also slides on Albas 7 Albas and their qualitative study of student life and exams. The set ends with a set of slides on types of questions that will be on the test. This set was updated and corrected on Thursday, February 13, 2003.

Grades

The grades are now posted here. This version of the grades includes the mark for the midterm as well as for online participation. It gives a total for part 1 of the course. This has also been posted by student id on the bulletin board outside the main office on the 200 level of the Avard Dixon Building.
