Research Assistant - Faculty of Social Science

This summer Research Assistant will work in the development of survey questionnaire forms and in data definition and management. Some data analysis may be included in this position. These survey questionnaires are being created for a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council funded study of the use of technology by school aged young people in the Canadian arctic and in southern Canada. The surveys will be translated into several languages including some aboriginal languages. The Research Assistant will create survey forms using the Teleform software package and work with data formatting and data entry using the SPSS program. No previous experience with these software packages is necessary. The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for learning software packages and a commitment to understanding social research. This person must be able to work diligently and independently. There will be a minimum of 12 weeks and a maximum of 16 weeks employment over the summer. The research project is continuing throughout this next year and there is a strong possibility for continued part-time employment over this period.
